Former ACU boss Ken Lywood dies

It is with great sadness that the ACU informs of the sad passing away of Ken Lywood on the morning of Saturday 17th December. Ken was a former ACU Ltd Chairman during the early 90s and also the ACU Motocross Committee Chairman in the late eighties and has been an Honorary Member of the ACU since 2008.

Ken was a keen Motocross enthusiast and was involved in motorcycle sport all his life, being a key member of the West Wilts MCC and the Wessex Centre.

Ken will be remembered mostly for his connection with the many World 500cc, World 250cc Motocross GPs and even a Sidecar World Championship round at Farleigh Castle during the sixties, seventies and eighties where he acted as the Clerk of Course.

Brian Higgins current ACU Chairman commented – “Ken was very instrumental in the early Motocross Grands Prix at Farleigh Castle and I believe at that time lifted the experience for race fans by putting so much work in to allow access to many places.  In the days before machinery was common place on track layout, Ken led the West Wilts Club workers for many weeks leading up to each event.  A true enthusiast.”

Funeral details will be released once known.
