After a break of just one year, the AMCA Superclass Championship is back for 2018 and there’s plenty of prize money on offer! Promoting the mini two round series will be the Cannock MXC on their circuit at Lower Drayton, the dates being April 15th and May 6th.
As usual, the Superclass format will be three unlimited capacity motos at each round as the fast MX1 lads go head to head with the high flying MX2 pilots. Invited to enter the title chase are the eventual top 16 from both the 2017 AMXA MX1 and MX2 British Championship classes along with the top two finishers from the 2017 AMCA 2T and Veterans Championship. Should any of the above decline the opportunity to compete then any spare spaces on the start grid will be offered to riders who filled MX1 and MX2 Championship places from 16th downwards in the final 2017 standings.
On the card and new for 2018 as support for the main event will also be a Superclass Challenge. This class is open to all 2017 AMCA Expert license holders and will be filled strictly on a first come first served. Whether you are interested in the Superclass or the Challenge, riders must enter and pay for both rounds.
The entry fee per round for both the Superclass and Superclass Challenge is £30 but in return there’s a big total prize pot of £4260! Not only will the top five overall at both rounds and in the final 2018 Championship standings benefit but also literally anyone else who enters could realistically go home with some cash! The reason behind that being that the organising Cannock MXC have also decided to hand out random awards to riders finishing anywhere between 6th and 36th position, what an incentive that is and another reason you need to get your entry in fast!
Starting way back in 1952, the AMCA Superclass as an illustrious history having seen riders such as Dick Clayton, Gary Evans, Adrian Bradley, Gary Davies, Phil Mercer, Lee Dunham and back in 1978 former World Champion Dave Thorpe all prove victorious. The last time the event was run in 2016, FUS Husqvarna ace Luke Burton took the title. Luke is sure to be back again in 2018 but who can stop him from bagging further glory? All will be revealed at Lower Drayton on April 15th and May 6th, it’s sure to be a Super classic contest!
