This weekend, November 10th/11th it’s the amazing AMCA Skegness Beach Race. In Association with Visit Lincs Coast and supported by Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure and East Lindsey District Council, this event is acclaimed by riders to be one of the toughest in the UK! Now in its 9th year, the Skegness race weekend continues to grow, going from success to success. On Saturday the 10th November there’s racing for Solo Clubman (minimum age of 13 years-old) and Quads and Sidecars. The Clubman will get the weekend underway at 10.30am with a 1.5 hour long contest before at 12.30pm the Quads and Sidecars take centre stage as they go into battle for a 2 hour duration. Already the Quads have entered in force with the 2017 winner Harry Walker and runner-up Ollie Sansom both going again. For 2018 they will be joined by the likes of Paul McConway, Aaron Pole and many others.
On Sunday 11th November at 11.30am it’s then time for the main 3 hour solo race. Previous winners of this race include French ace Milko Potisek, Nathan Watson, Dan Thornhill, Nez Parker and James Hutchinson. With £1,000 again going to the victor, the 2018 contest is sure to be another classic! With the entries coming in fast for the big race, the AMCA are delighted to announce that legend David Knight, MBE will be competing and at present other early likely contenders for the win include Carlton Husband, Ryan Staveley and the talented 2017 runner-up Jake Edey. So far an AMCA rider has not took top slot but you can be sure that the fast Jamie Wainwright and Ryan Crowder will be doing their very best to put that record straight! Last year Wainwright finished 3rd and has certainly proved that he has the required pedigree to take that elusive win following another very impressive performance at the Weston Beach event.
Riders interested in any of the classes can enter the Skegness bash right up until the day of the event so you can still enjoy the unique experience that can only be Skeggy! And don’t forget if you’re spectating it’s totally FREE to watch throughout the entire weekend but get their early as Skeggy always generates massive crowds! Words and pic by Mike Wood
