Double Top Ten for Apico Husqvarna at Blaxhall

The sixth round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean took place at the fantastic Blaxhall Circuit near Woodbridge in Suffolk. With the track looking in great condition prior to the action starting, both Jamie Law and Matt Burrows were looking forward to getting out on track.

The morning practice and qualifying session saw both Jamie and Matt finish outside the top ten in 12th and 18th places. But with the lap times so close and the start line being very fair both riders were feeling confident going into the races.

After the opening race was red flagged at the end of the first lap, the riders lined up for a restart which saw Matt make a mega start inside the top ten, while Jamie crashed with another rider on the second corner and lost his seat and restarted the race dead last. As the race went on Matt rode a solid race to secure tenth place while Jamie spent the whole race riding on the pegs as he recovered to 15th place at the flag.

In the second race both Matt and Jamie started well with Matt rounding the opening corner in 4th and Jamie in 6th place. With both riders at the front Jamie quickly settled into 5th place and stayed there for the whole race while Matt made a mistake on the opening lap and slipped back to 15th but pushed hard to move forward to 12that the finish.

Jamie’s two results saw him take 8th overall and he now sits 6th in the championship while Matt finished in 9th overall and is now 16th in the Championship with two rounds remaining.

Jamie Law – In the opening race I caught the back of another bike in the second corner and went down, losing my seat as a consequence. I was pleased to salvage some championship points but I’m going to suffer from standing up the whole race. In the second race things were much better as I got a decent start and worked hard on first couple of laps then settled into a good pace for 5th at the flag.

Matt Burrows – Today was a worrying start as I had a couple injury coming into the weekend and didn’t do many laps in qualifying. In race 1 I had a decent start and road my own race to finish 10th. Then in race 2 I had an awesome start in 3rd but then went off track and went back to 15th and ended 12th and 9th overall so it was a good day for me.

Sean Burrows – Team Manager – Two top 10 overall’s for both Matt and Jamie is a good day for the team as a whole as Matt did his best with the injuries he had prior to the event and Jamie had a great second race with a top 5.
