The 46-year-old was admitted to hospital near his home in Leuven during the week, where he is currently in intensive care. 

Around a month ago he took part in a charity race in Lubumbashi in the Congo where it’s likely he contracted the disease from a mosquito bite.

His family is asking for privacy at this time, and I’m sure we all wish the greatest motocross champ of all time the very best as he battles his illness.
