France takes the Nations win again!

Team France made it a stunning fifth Motocross of Nations win in a row after narrowly beating Italy in the Red Bud Nations in the USA.

Gauter Paulin, Jordi Tixier and Dylan Ferrandis took a nail-biting win from Tony Cairoli, Alex Lupino and Michele Cervellin.

But it was the Dutch duo of Glenn Coldenhoff and Jeffrey Herlings who ruled the day, as Coldenhoff won both his motos while Herlings has a win then tailed his team mate in the final moto. Their third member Calvin Vlaanderen DNFed moto 1 with an engine failure and an eye injury and didn’t ride again. But it was enough to get the team onto the podium in third. Team Australia was fourth despite leading going into the last moto.

A last moto ride to sixth by Max Anstie, and 10th by Tommy Searle, along with a fourth by Ben Watson in his best race, put Team GB in fifth in front of USA and Belgium.

Team Ireland finished 14th thanks to Martin Barr, Gary Gibson and and Richard Bird.

Race two saw a stunning ride for Briton Ben Watson who battled with Jorge Prado and took a fantastic fourth, with Aussie Hunter Lawrence second.  Dutchman Glenn Coldenhoff won the race. Max Anstie fell twice and pitted for goggles and took 13th. Martin Barr was 17th.
Champions France had Jordi Tixier DNF with a bike failure, while Ferrandis fell but ended 8th. Tixier only had one motor so had to borrow a stock engine for the final moto.
There was heartache for British hero Tommy Searle in the opener as he held off Eli Tomac for fourth with two laps to go, until his bike expired.
Jeffrey Herlings fell on the opening lap but took the win from Gautier Paulin, Jorge Prado, Tomac, Desalle and Cairoli who fell in the first turn.
In the opener Ben Watson was 15th, Martin Barr 16th, Aaron Plessinger 18th, Ken Roczen 25th after a fall and Gary Gibson 33rd.
