GL12 dominates the Blaxhall two-strokes

GL12 Racing KTM’s James Dunn and Mike Kras ran 1-2 at the third round of the ACU British Two-stroke Championship at Blaxhall on Sunday.

On a blazingly hot day the pair dominated the action in Suffolk with James topping qualification 0.2 seconds ahead of Mike before ripping to two holeshots and two wins as he closed in on second place in the title chase.

Mike produced a pair of controlled, assured performances as he followed James home in both races to extend his championship lead to 11 points with two rounds remaining.

Blaxhall also marked the opening round of the MXY2 youth championship and the team’s 15-year-old hot prospect Ike Carter turned plenty of heads as well as laps as banged bars with the 250Fs on his 125cc two-stroke.

Qualifying second, he ended the opening moto in seventh and then improved to fourth in race two before signing off with a sensational second for fourth overall.

Bob Buchanan – Team Principal

“I could use James’ and Mike’s domination of the two-strokes at Blaxhall to brag about how good we are but with their class that’s what they should do every round.

“I hope James keeps his form for the EMX250 this weekend and Mike enjoys a couple of weeks off, safe in the knowledge he leads both two-stroke championships.

“So instead let’s focus on the future without which we will lose our sport and the two words I want to leave you with from Blaxhall are…Ike Carter!”

Mike Kras – B2S 2nd (2-2)

“I’ve never been happy with a second place but today I am.

“After Russia and the travelling and working in the week I’ve been really tired. On Tuesday I got sick and was completely empty and I didn’t know how to survive the second race but I did. I followed James for a little bit so he could pull me clear of the rest and then I just rode my own race.

“The last two rounds are sand and that is my thing so I’m looking forward to showing the boys what I can do.”

James Dunn – B2S 1st (1-1)

“It’s been a perfect day – I even got first in qualifying which is really nice, my first this year.

That got me dialled in and set me up for two holeshots and two race wins so I couldn’t ask for a better day.

“We’re getting there now. The set-up gets better and better each week and we’re building momentum which hopefully we can carry on into Latvia and the rest of the season.”

Ike Carter – MXY2 4th (7-4-2)

“Today’s gone well. I struggled on the starts a little bit but I pulled through.

“It’s hard out of the gate against the 250s but I made some good passes.”
