Jonass dominates in Argentina

Pauls Jonass took a stunning MX2 double win on the glorious Argentina GP, stealing past his KTM team-mate Jorge Prado in the first few laps of both motos to take a pair of wins. He also took a double win in the opening GP of the season in Qatar, but only a sole 14th place after leading in the mud of the last round in Indonesia.

Prado fought bravely to hold on to the lead in both motos but dropped to third in the opener when Yamaha’s Benoit Paturel demoted him. Prado then took another third in the second moto after he was caught by Suzuki’s Jeremy Seewer. But it was enough to give the talented youngster second overall.

Seewer took third overall and the lead in the championship – the first time he’s had the red plate. Seewer went down in the first moto but pulled back through to fifth, which helped him get on the podium.

Thomas Kjer Olsen had a fourth in the opener but crashed with his team-mate Thomas Covington in race two and finished seventh. American Darien Sanyei, riding for the British Monster Kawasaki team, challenged for the lead in the opening moto until he fell. He got back on and took sixth, then fourth in moto two.

It was a poor day for KTM privateer Julian Lieber who entered the day as the red plate holder. He crashed with Adam Sterry in the opening moto and only finished 16th on a damaged bike. Second time out he was fifth.

Ben Watson was top ten in the opener until he made a mistake then took 19th, backed up with a 17th in the second race. Adam Sterry 23rd then tenth, and Conrad Mewse 27th and 26th.
