Nicholls injury confirmed as broken leg

British championship leader Jake Nicholls underwent surgery today for a broke tibia and fibula in his leg after getting injured in qualifying for yesterday’s Eastern Centre race at Blaxhall – just two weeks before the final British championship round at Lyng.

As we revealed yesterday, Nicholls did a handful of laps in practice at Blaxhall, setting the quickest time, but suddenly pulled up and went back to the pits. He immediately left the track to seek medical attention.

Nicholls has led the series from the second round and currently holds a 39-point advantage over Suzuki’s Evgeny Bobryshev, with 50 points up for grabs at Lyng – the only rider that can catch him.
