Plessinger celebrates his first US title

After a hard fought season in the 250 Supercross West Coast Regional Championship, STAR Racing Yamaha’s Aaron Plessinger was crowned champion at the final race of the season inside Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, then proposed to his girlfriend on the podium. She said yes!

Plessinger had an incredible season, winning four of the ten races in the West Coast Regional Championship. After multiple dominant performances, Plessinger came into the final two rounds of the season with a healthy points lead. A fourth place finish in the penultimate race of the season left Plessinger with a 13 point lead heading into Las Vegas. Knowing that a top ten was all he needed to take the championship, Aaron rode to an 8th place finish in the East/West Showdown and earned his first professional championship.

“I am still speechless about it,” said Plessinger. “We got the championship! It was a wild main event. Almost crashed so I backed it down pretty good after that. Then I cruised it in behind Zach after that to get the championship… I don’t think the championship has set in, I will probably be a mess when it does.”

THOR Athlete Manager, Andy Gustafson said, ”We couldn’t be happier for the Monster Energy STAR Yamaha powerhouse team and the new West Coast 250 Champion, Aaron Plessinger on adding another championship to this premier 250 team! Aaron is not only a top professional athlete but a true OUTSTANDABLE human that THOR is proud to back and support.”

THOR Brand Manager, Josh Shorter exclaimed, “Championships baby! Everyone from THOR was either on hand in Vegas, or watching live to share in the experience. When one of our athletes wins a title, the feeling is shared throughout the THOR organization. Aaron is the nicest guy, but also dedicated and hard working, and it shows. We couldn’t ask for a better racer, role model and, soon to be, father and husband, to represent the brand. Congratulations to Aaron, what a tremendous season!”

About THOR Motocross:

THOR was founded by 4-time World 250cc Motocross Champion Torsten Hallman in 1968 in San Diego, California. Two years earlier, Torsten had come to the United States at the request of Husqvarna to help promote the bike and introduce it to the US market. Torsten saw the American racer’s potential and the need for quality motocross gear so he began importing pants, gloves and jerseys under the brand name Hallman Racing, or THOR (Torsten Hallman Original Racewear). This was the beginning of THOR.

Over the years, countless races and championships have been won by riders wearing THOR. Every product is a progression, a new step forward in design and performance. Always racing forward, always respecting our past, always focused on building quality products that exceed rider expectations. See what’s new at www.thormx.com or call 858-748-0040
