Revo and MX Nationals team up for new track

The forces behind the MX Nationals and the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship are working together to bring new tracks to the sport in 2023. By working together, the two Championships have secured a new venue – Oakhanger near Bordon, Hampshire to build a brand new British motocross track for the 2023 season.

Oakhanger is land belonging to the MOD. It is the second new track built on land belonging to them following the launch of Oxford Moto Park to the British Motocross scene in 2022. The track will be developed and built by the world-class track builders Justin Barclay and Alfie Smith. The duo has years of industry experience and has worked with the MX Nationals Championship Team on Oxford Moto Parc and other circuits. The land lends itself towards that of a Dutch motocross track, and plans are in place to change the circuit layout between events.

The Michelin MX Nationals will kick off the first round of the Championship at Oakhanger on March 11th and 12th. A week later, the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship will use the venue to host the opening round on March 19th. That date was set to be at Preston Docks.

“I am delighted to be able to present the opportunity to new tracks to both the Championship and the wider motocross industry. By working with Gareth and the team at the Revo British Championship, we have gotten this track off the ground. We are losing too many tracks in the UK. It is vital for the future of the sport and the riders that we can continue to develop land and build great tracks here in the UK. We must provide them with circuits to develop their riding and nurture them to progress and compete in the world arena.” Neil Irwin – MX NATIONALS

“It’s great to be working with the MX Nationals UK team in 2023 to bring new venues to the British motocross scene and the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship. We must be in a position to provide new circuits to the riders in the country to assist with developing them to go into the EMX and MXGP in the future. We appreciate there are challenges going to new venues; however, we have two of the best track builders in the world working on this. RHL have worked with Justin for many years across our events, including the MXGP’s we ran in 2008 and 2009 at Mallory Park. You can see what an excellent job both Justin and Alfie did with the Oxford Moto Park circuit in 2022, and I am sure the first rounds will be significant for British Motocross.” Gareth Hockey – RHL Activities Ltd

The Michelin MX Nationals is entering its 10th season and continues to go from strength to strength, with a full lineup in each class and a hefty reserve list. The Championship features two new tracks this year and includes a return to the newly developed Oxford Moto Park.
