Solid weekend for Apico Husqvarna

Apico Husqvarna headed to the fourth round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship at Hawkstone Park looking to have a solid day and continue to progress.

With the injured Kristian Whatley missing from the team awning, both Jamie Law and Matt Burrows headed out on track for the MX1 qualifying session. After not getting a solid lap Law finished the session 11th fastest while Burrows suffered a small technical issue and finished 17th fastest.

After the lunch break it was time for the opening race and when the gate dropped Burrows fired out of the gate into the top 10 early on and was running 9th during the opening, while Law was working his way forward from a bad start. As the race progressed Burrows slipped back to 16th at the finish after suffering arm pump and was riding tense. For Law he to struggled to find a flow during the race and could only recover to 12th place.

Following the tough opening race both riders were looking for better results in the second race, unfortunately for Burrows that chance ended at the first corner when he collided with a group of riders and went down, damaging the bike in the progress. Law made a better start and pushed hard all race long to progress from 10th to 6th at the finish, for 8th overall on the day. After his first corner crash Burrows pushed hard to recover to 19th place for 19th overall.

Jamie Law now sits 7th in the Championship with Matt Burrows in 19th place when the championship heads into the second half of the series at Desertmartin next month.

Jamie Law – The first race I rode really badly and was annoyed at myself, I slipped off and never really got going. The second race I rode well from an average start and got up to 6th at the flag for 8th overall and 7th in the championship so it was a better end to the day than the start.

Matt Burrows – today we had a couple of technical issues, in qualifying the back brake kept sticking on and I managed to get a lap in but was down in 17th. Then in the first race I suffered with arm pump and finished 15th. In the second race I crashed on the first corner and broke the gear lever and clutch lever and got back to 19th which isn’t where we want to be so I’m looking forward to Desertmartin.

Sean Burrows – Team Manager – Today hasn’t been too bad, Matt suffered with arm pump and then was unlucky in the second race to be in a pile up on the first corner. Jamie has had a decent day after a steady first race and good second race for 8thoverall.
