Supercross champ Swink passes away

Double US Supercross champ Brian Swink has passed away, his family have revealed. There is no news yet on the details.

His cousin Sandy Swink Rutter said: “Thanks to everyone for the kind messages and texts today about the sudden passing today of my cousin, Brian Swink . Please continue to pray for the difficult days ahead for his kids, my my Aunt Nelda Swink , his sister Teresa Billy N Teresa, Brother Rick and all of his family and friends. Such a very sad day.”

Swink rode to the 1991 and 1992 East Coast Supercross championships for Mitch Payton’s pro Circuit team, when they were on Peak-backed Hondas.

His former team-mate Jeremy McGrath said: “Bummed to hear the news of @Swinkster42 today. Solid dude, teammate and shared some good times… My thoughts go out to the Swink Family.”

It was a double blow for motocross today as Jim Hale, the man behind the growth of Axo and Mechanics gloves, lost his life. The 64-year-old died of complications from back surgery in the USA.

Our thoughts and condolences go to their respective families, friends and many fans.
