Supercross ShoulderGate!

The three factory AMA Supercross riders who have all picked up shoulder injuries – Eli Tomac, Marvin Musquin and Dean Wilson – are all set to race at today’s Anaheim Supercross, or at least give it a go in practice!

Anaheim 1 winner Musquin, who fell and hurt his shoulder at Houston last week, has been out riding and said: “I’ve been working hard all week, and we’ve made some good progress on the shoulder. I rode this morning and the feeling was very positive, definitively worth going to A2!”

Tomac, who badly bruised his shoulder at the Anaheim opener and tried to ride last week at Houston but pulled out after practice, is also set to ride today. His team say he’s taking things ‘day-by-day’ so chances are he’ll try to race.

Scotsman Wilson rode at press day on the Anaheim track, where he hurt his shoulder two weeks ago, and says he’s ready to go this evening.

The Anaheim 2 race is the first of the new-look triple crown events. Instead of one main event, there will be three separate motos scored in an Olympic system – so one point for first, two for second.

At the end of the three motos, the man with the least number of points will be declared the Anaheim 2 winner and be given the normal championship points.

Having to race three main events instead of just one longer one will probably not be good news for the riders coming back from injury, so series leader Jason Anderson will be looking to increase his points lead.
