Weckman joins KTM Diga EMX125 team

KTM Diga Junior Racing Team is pleased to officially welcome Emil Weckman (15) to the team for the remaining rounds of the EMX125 Championship. The talented Finn will make his debut on the KTM SX 125 at Ottobiano, round 4 of the EMX125 series.

Weckman, a double EMX150 champion, had started the season with Team JTech Racing but the Italian squad folded due to health problems of both partners running the team. Although the 125cc rookie recorded encouraging results in national races his European Championship campaign has been a mixed bag so far.

With five rounds left to go in the EMX125 series Weckman currently sits 29th in provisional standings. Emil has also been selected to represent Finland at the FIM Junior World Championship at the end of July in Lange Motokeskus, Estonia. On top of his international schedule Weckman is set to compete in selected Finnish and German events aboard the Diga KTM 125 SX.

Emil Weckman: “I’m very sorry for the sad conditions that made Team JTech Racing decide to stop. I’m thankful for their help, for believing in me and supporting me. Luckily we quickly found an arrangement with KTM Diga Junior Racing Team. I think this is a great fit for me and I’m really looking forward to race the rest of the season with such a professional and motivated group of people. It’s funny to be part of a Belgian team where I have so many Finnish team mates!
The first impressions I had of the KTM have been really positive. The bike is powerful and handles well so it will be interesting to see how things will go in competition!”

Dirk Saelen, KTM Diga Junior Racing Team owner and manager: “Emil is known for his positive attitude and fighting spirit, in that sense he’s already been on ‘our radar’ for a while. It was of course beyond anyone’s intention that Emil’s team decided to retire. But as a rider it’s particularly difficult to deal with this kind of situation during the season so we’re happy we can provide a solution to him and his family. Our first objective is to get him comfortable with the bike and prepare for Ottobiano in the best possible way.”
