Wheeler takes world title!

Former GP ace Brian Wheeler clinched the over-45 world championship with double moto wins in the World Vet championship at Glen Helen in California on Sunday.

But it wasn’t such a successful day for former British champ Kurt Nicoll, who took runner-up place behind Doug Dubach in the over-50 class. Yamaha man Duback had two wins, with Nicoll second both times out.

Third was former AMA pro Keith Bowen, with MX des Nations winner and ex US champ Ron Lechien fourth.

Jim O’Neal, founder of the O’Neal clothing brand, was second in the over 70 class, ex MX des Nations winner Chuck Sun was second in the over-60s on his TM. Brett Metcalfe won the over-30 pro class from ex AMA champ Mike Brown.
