Stewart tops Paris opener as Lawrences fall

For the opening night of the 42nd Paris Supercross, at the Paris La Défense Arena a capacity crowd witnessed American rider Malcolm Stewart proving unstoppable, claiming victory in all three SX1 finals to take a commanding lead in the battle for the coveted ‘King of Paris’ title.

In SX2, it was Australia’s Luke Clout who emerged victorious after a night of fierce competition, edging out France’s Anthony Bourdon to secure the win.

The action began with the Super Pole session, where Hunter Lawrence set the pace with a blistering lap, narrowly beating Stewart. Hunter’s brother Jett Lawrence suffered an early scare after crashing in a corner — a sign of the drama to come.

In the first SX1 final, Cooper Webb grabbed the holeshot, leading Stewart as the Honda riders ran into trouble. Hunter crashed in the first corner along with several others, while Jett and Tom Vialle collided in the second. That left Stewart to chase down Webb, taking the lead at the halfway mark to win ahead of Webb, Cédric Soubeyras, and a recovering Hunter Lawrence.

The second race followed a similar script, with Stewart in dominant form. Hunter Lawrence pushed hard but couldn’t quite find a way through, settling for second ahead of Jett Lawrence, who passed Webb midway through the race.

The final moto confirmed Stewart’s supremacy. He led from start to finish while both Lawrence brothers suffered crashes — Jett retiring on lap seven, Hunter three laps later after a fall in the whoops. Webb claimed second, with Vialle third and Soubeyras fourth, securing his place among the provisional podium in the King of Paris standings.

SX2: Clout Claims ‘Prince of Paris’ Title

The SX2 class saw a fierce battle between Luke Clout and Anthony Bourdon, with both riders heading into the deciding final tied on points after trading wins earlier in the evening. Clout got the perfect start and never looked back, while Bourdon charged through the field to finish second. Calvin Fonvieille rounded out the podium, extending his overall lead in the French SX2 Championship.

Juniors: Lopez in Control

In the Junior class, championship leader Yannis Lopez delivered another flawless performance, dominating the single race of the night to strengthen his title challenge.

With its trademark mix of world-class riders, dramatic battles, and a packed Parisian crowd, the 42nd edition of the Paris Supercross once again delivered a night to remember — and set the stage for an epic second round in the race to be crowned King of Paris.By Pascal Haudiquert
