Lacapelle Marival targets French GP

The track at Lacapelle Marival is in talks to host the French GP on October 9-10 this year after it was forced to cancel its international season-opener due to Covid restrictions.

The track is in the south of the country, around a 520 miles drive from Calais.

The organisers said: “We are currently in discussion with the FFM and Infront, the promoter of the world championship, to possibly host the MXGP of France on October 9 and 10.

“Nothing is done, because as you can imagine the difference in running an International and a GP of France is significant! We have some GP experience (4 Sidecar and 2 MX3) but today’s GPs have reached another dimension and for the past few weeks we have been carefully studying this proposal.

“Technical, financial and human challenges are different but the club team as well as the regional authorities are motivated. We’ll know more in a few weeks, and thank you in advance for your unconditional support!”
