Team GB’s road to the Junior Worlds starts

The 2024 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship will be held at the Circuit Kamperweg Heerde in the Netherlands, on 14th July 2024, and the Team GB training programme is about to get underway.

Kicking off during the school easter holidays on the 4th of April at Doncaster Moto Parc, a Team GB Junior Worlds Day will be open to any 65, 85, and 125cc youth riders who are interested in a spot of training and the chance to showcase their skills to Team GB talent scouts.

Explaining why such youth-focussed days are important, Team GB Junior Worlds manager Dave Willet said; “In previous years the selection process has been mainly result-based. However, we cannot rely on this for 2024 as many British-based championships will not run before the cut-off point when we need to make the tough call as to who to include in this year’s team.

“In 2023, we raised the profile for Team GB and those riders, who were lucky enough to be selected, know that we are serious in what we say and do, and fully appreciate how we support the programme and move forward as a team.

That team is not just about the riders. It’s about every single person and company involved from the motorcycle sport’s governing body, the ACU, the hugely-important sponsors, support network of trainers/motivators, suppliers of kit/branding, media partners and, of course, the parents. Without this band of people who regularly give their time and expertise free-of-charge, Team GB’s pivotal participation in the Junior Motocross World Championship undertaking simply wouldn’t happen.

“The facility for the upcoming training day at Doncaster Moto Parc has been generously donated free-of-charge by owner Ed Bradley, himself a former top level British moto cross rider. It will be a great opportunity for young riders to shine, and receive structured advice and support. We anticipate that they will all benefit from it and learn from what they take away. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to the track.”

The entry fee for the 4th April Team GB day at Doncaster Moto Parc is £40. To book, go to www.goracemx.com/event.php?eid=7595. All profits will be put into the team ‘pot’ to support the squad in their endeavours to get to Holland and place Team GB on the Junior Worlds podium.
