Webb: I will race the Nations for USA!

AMA Supercross champion Cooper Webb says YES to racing for his country in the Motocross of Nations, if he’s selected. While most American riders have shied away from racing for their country in recent years, Webb is super-keen to race against Europe’s best.

In a Zoom interview for selected worldwide publications including MotoHead’s Dave Willet, Webb even recalled his previous Nations successes as he was on the podium twice with team USA.

USA team boss, and KTM USA racing chief Roger De Coster seemed excited about Webb racing for his country but he did say he’ll be selecting the three fastest riders for the job.

He said he’s had confirmation this week that the event will definitely take place in Italy. It’s currently scheduled for Mantova on September 26. That means it’s two weeks after the final US National but is in the middle of the GP season, with eight rounds remaining. The circuit is also one of the smallest on the calendar with limited room for crowds. It’s a former car racing oval on the outskirts of the historic city of Mantova, a world heritage site.

De Coster was asked what drives him on he said: “The feeling of winning never gets old!”
