New Women’s British series kicks off

After months of hard work and at times total frustration, the dreams of Howard Marriott and his daughter Vicky eventually come to fruition this Bank Holiday weekend with the launch of the British Women’s Motocross Championship.

Affiliated to the AMCA, this eagerly anticipated and inaugural series will be staged over five rounds and consist of an Open class competition for girls aged 13 and above on 85cc up to 450cc machines. Not only have Howard and Vicky been busy putting the new series together but they have also secured the backing of an impressive list of series sponsors. That list includes amongst others the likes of title backers Westermans International who have put up some very tasty prize money for the Championship overall top three! Also on offer are trophies, holeshot awards, various motocross products and even bike suspension tuning for the most improved rider of the series.

The 2017 Championship kicks off at Norley and visits Warmingham Lane, Lower Drayton and Grittenham before concluding at Brookthorpe. The list of registered riders include Natalie Kane who also agreed to be the series ambassador. Natalie intends to compete in some of the rounds when other commitments allow. So why not give the girls the support they deserve and get along to Norley in Cheshire this weekend, the postcode for the event being WA6 6LJ. Words by Mike Wood
