Searle penalised in Arenacross qualifying

Tommy Searle topped his qualifying session but was penalised a minute for jumping under a yellow flag in qualifying for the Birmingham round of the UK Arenacross series. It means he will get last choice of start gate for his heat.

“I just need to get through that heat then I’ll get a better choice for my second heat, as it’ll go on results of the first,” he said. “I wanted to get the extra championship point for being fastest qualifying, though.”

That would have put him level on points with Conrad Mewse, who leads the series by a single point. Mewse was second in qualifying, behind Joe Clayton on the Husqvarna who is riding with incredible confidence. Last week’s winner Josh Gilbert took fourth from Jason Meara, Martin Barr and Dylan Woodock. Woodcock jetted back from the Anaheim supercross to contest the race and is out on a Kawasaki.
