Who will be the Womens British champion?

It’s the eighth and final round this Sunday of what as been a truly fantastic BWMA Westermans International British Womens Motocross Championship, a series which as also helped ensure that the rapidly rising profile of female motocross racing in the UK continues to march relentlessly forward!

In the hotly contested Elite Ladies class, Chelsea Gowland has been in outstanding form winning the opening six rounds. Last time out though in a dust effected event at Wroxton, Chelsea had to share the top step on the podium with the fast Amie Goodlad, a rider who has previously enjoyed some Women’s GP racing experience. Throughout the entire campaign, Amie has proved to be Chelsea’s closest challenger but even providing that she has recovered from a recent knee injury will still need a massive performance this weekend if she is to snatch the title glory! At present she trails Chelsea by 76 points with Leonni Tighe, another rider recovering from a recent injury currently sitting in 3rd. Buoyed by some recent fine performances in the IMBA European series, South coast based Charlotte Hall is next best in the standings with Taylor Scott and Ellie Sleightholm completing the top six.
Over in the Youth class, Elisha Elliott has led the series all the way and goes into the final clash at Norley with a 108 point advantage over Jaysi Austin. Throughout the entire campaign, Austin as really been fighting hard and giving it her all in hot pursuit of the fast Elliot, eventually getting her just reward with an overall win last time out at Wroxton. Austin also climbed up on the podium top step earlier in the season at Long Lane when Elliott suffered with mechanical gremlins. These young, determined racers in the Girls Youth class have really give it their all in what as been an outstanding season. Going into the Norley event this weekend, the equally fast quartet comprising of Grace Packman, Hannah Jones, Isabelle Neale and Caitlin Williams round off the current top six places in the Championship table.
So if you want to watch some of the UK’s fastest females in motocross action, Norley in Cheshire is the place to be on Sunday, September 23rd. The local postcode for the circuit is WA6 6LJ with junction 19 of the M6 the closest motorway link.
