MXGP debut ruined for injured Gilbert

Josh Gilbert’s debut in the MXGP championship has been put on hold as he has had knee surgery today. It means he won’t be fit for the start of his rookie MXGP season in the first week of April.

The defending MX Nationals MX2 champ was due to step up to the 450s for the Par Homes Husqvarna team.

“Absolutely gutted to be writing this post! Today I underwent surgery to reconstruct my ACL and meniscus, I can honestly say I did not expect my injuries to be quite so bad! But it is and I can assure everyone that I will do everything in my power to get back as soon as I can and come back stronger! Sorry to Par Homes Husqvarna and all my sponsors but the racing hasn’t started yet,” he said on social media, as well as posing this shot from his hospital bed.
