Injury blow for Herlings

There’s doubt World MX2 champ Jeffrey Herlings will be fit to race the opening MXGP at Qatar on February 25 as he injured his arm in the high-speed crash in Sunday’s Italian championship that also took down MXGP champ Tim Gajser.

Herlings crashed hard and didn’t race again on Sunday. He was seen by doctors who have strapped his arm up and there will be further checks on Monday.

The team will fly his bikes to the race then make an 11th-hour call on whether he will be fit.

Herlings posted this photo on social media with the message: “Did you ever look at yourself and just think ‘dude you just seriously f…ked up’. Well that’s what I’m looking at when I see myself knowing I need to be racing in less than two weeks in Qatar.”
