Margate gets ready for beachcross action

The golden sand on Margate’s main beach will be used to create jumps and whoops using Ovenden Plant machines for the 20th staging of the Ovenden BXUK Margate International Beachcross next weekend, in readiness for close to 100 Adult Quad and Solo off road bike competitors from across the UK and Europe to compete on.

Racing takes place on both Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th March with action getting underway at 10am both days. To spectate the colourful action on the beach is FREE, with the backdrop of Margate town old and new to explore.

Reigning Cromwell Trucks BXUK MCF British Solo Beachcross Champion, Irishman Richard McKeowan, is ready to defend his title as is reigning The Brake House BXUK MCF British Quad Beachcross Champion Carl Bunce from Berkshire and Komfort Services 4×4 Quad champion Jon Morgan from Usk. Top sand racing specialists from across Europe will be hoping to not just take the Margate event title across the channel but to bag valuable British Championship points to kickstart their season.

Each competitor goes out for timed practice to determine which category they are to race in: Pro, National or Club. Then each competitor competes in three, point-scoring races per day, accumulating valuable points for overall position in the event and the championship. There are awards for local Thanet/ Kent based riders and other spot prizes.

So come along and support the local and international competitors in these action packed days of racing, with great viewing from the promenade down on to the demanding track on the beach FOR FREE.

Event hotline is 07774 434468.
