Barcia fastest at Lille as Searle hurts hand

New Suzuki signing Justin Barcia set the fastest time in SX1 qualifying for the Paris Bercy Supercross at Lille. Honda’s Malcolm Stewart was just 0.005 secs slower as Frenchman Cedric Soubeyras took third from Marvin Musquin and Christian Craig in the faster “A group”.

Brit Tommy Searle is sporting an ice pack on his right hand after Stewart couldn’t stop quick enough for a turn after a big triple jump and rammed into him. But it didn’t affect Searle too much and he took seventh fastest time.

Former world champ Romain Febvre crashed hard in free practice. He went out in the timed session but set the slowest time, 1.4 secs slower than Stewart. In the B group, Briton Jack Brunell was sixth.

GP rider Jake Nicholls is in the SX2 class for his first ever supercross since his youth days. He took set second fastest time and looked comfortable despite only starting to ride SX on the 250 this week. He complained of arm pump on the gnarly track. Joe Clayton took sixth.

The event features the SX1 international class and the SX2 races, and some cool freestyle action from some of the world’s top FMX stars. Including two maniacs riding a quad and a snowmobile! The event is televised live on both days – Saturday night and Sunday afternoon/ evening, on Motors TV. And watch out for some MotoHead action on TV!
