Nicholls injured at Blaxhall

British championship leader Jake Nicholls injured his ankle in qualifying for today’s Eastern Centre race at Blaxhall, just two weeks before the final British championship round at Lyng.

Nicholls did a handful of laps in practice at Blaxhall, setting the quickest time, but suddenly pulled up and went back to the pits. He immediately left the track to seek medical attention, a Honda team member told MotoHead at the circuit.

There is no official news yet on Jake’s condition but we’ll reveal more details as soon as we know any.

Nicholls has led the series from the second round and currently holds a 39-point advantage over Suzuki’s Evgeny Bobryshev, with 50 points up for grabs at Lyng. Third is Graeme Irwin, 52 points behind Nicholls.

Irwin was also hurt in today’s Imola GP, damaging his wrist. If it’s broken, it puts his spot on the Irish Motocross of Nations team in jeopardy.
